 boards

This was recently brought to our attention via a post in the post forums page. It was made apparent to us that some people are unaware of the differences between Glass work and Ouija boards. In this article we will attempt to explain this.

Ouija Board

Ouija boards AKA: Talking boards and spirit boards have been around at least since the mid eighteen hundreds, although many believe they were used in BC times. They started to get really popular in the 1960’s but by this time the design which most take for granted today was well set in. The word Ouija is very much debated, to some it means "yes, yes" French is Oui meaning yes and German Ja meaning Yes. While others believe the word to be Egyptian for good luck. The boards display all the letters of the alphabet with the words yes and no also displayed. Sometimes but not always some boards have the numbers 0 to 9 also displayed. You then place the pointer AKA planchette in the centre of the board, then all taking part lightly place their fingers onto the pointer. This is where the questions begin, usually "Is there any spirits amongst us?" After a while the pointer should start to move. Basically that’s the concept behind Ouija boards, now for the more darker side to these boards.

It has been found that by conducting Ouija boards without any prior knowledge what so ever, has often ended up in bad circumstances. Many people conducting them in their homes have found to experience strange happenings shortly after using them. Sometimes so bad in fact that they are forced to bring in paranormal investigation teams to try and render this mistake. Some people have been driven out of their homes by misconduct of Ouija boards, while in some extreme cases they have even lead to death! People must understand that while originally the Ouija board was designed as a board game and even today still being manufactured as such, they can be very dangerous. WHY? Because our medium explains to us that demonic spirits and demons do not exist. This is often where people get confused, he continues to explain that if someone was a bad person in life then they continue to be so in death hence a bad spirit entity. Spirits good or bad thrive on negative energy; good spirits come to help turn you back to positive thinking. While bad spirits play on your venerability hoping you will see them as a demonic entity or a demon. It is believed that when you conduct an Ouija board you are in fact opening a portal to the other side. Through this portal spirits can pass through good or bad but often bad, when you finish the board, the portal can sometimes remain open unaware to you. The spirit entity you have realised into your home now has the freedom of corruption! Often after a while most individuals find their home is no longer the same, and in fact even feels different. To tackle such spirits does require great knowledge of the exorcism and clearing process. To many people including people of the cloth and mediums Ouija boards are regarded as dangerous and most will advise not to tamper with them. Then again there are some people who simply do not and will not accept any of this, and often disregard anything bad connected to them.

Glass Work

Glass work is used by paranormal investigators and people who conduct séances, because it is also believed to contact spirits. Unlike the Ouija board it has been found that Glass work is not as dangerous. This is because most believe that portals are not opened and left open often found in Ouija board cases. At the same time the questions are less detailed and are often restricted to yes or no answers. Glass work is usually conducted on a wooden table with an upturned glass, people lightly place their fingers on top of the glass. Then a question is asked, usually "Are there any spirits amongst us, who would like to communicate with us?" After a while the glass begins to move. Thus far to our knowledge glass work has never raised any negative energy to cause problems where it was conducted. Nor has it ever caused harm to those conducting the séances. It is believed the spirit enters the glass and uses the energy flowing from the user’s fingers to make the glass move. In some cases the glass can even rotate under the fingers, sometimes clockwise sometimes counter clockwise. Unlike Ouija boards glass work can usually only contact spirits that reside in the place where it is being conducted. To date glass work has proven to be a far safer method of communication with spirit than the Ouija board.

Ideomotor effect

This is what sceptics and scientist believe is the real cause behind Ouija boards and Glass work. People may consciously think the pointer or glass is moving on its own, when really it is they who is actually pushing it!
