EVP – Electronic Voice Phenomena

TRC590MEVP dates back to the 1920’s when Thomas Alva Edison, who invented the electric light and motion camera first started experimenting. Edison believed it was possible to capture spirit voices and began working on a device to do just that. Unfortunately Edison passed away before completing his invention. This however was not the end for EVP, in the 1930’s an American photographer Attila von Szalay experimented with a record cutter and had some success with EVP. Szalay had better success in the 1940’s with a wire recorder. In the 1950’s Raymond Bayless documented Szalay’s work, no part of the documentation received any response from the readers. Today this is a different matter altogether and over the years EVP has become more and more compelling. Nowadays us Paranormal Investigators use digital voice recorders and analogue Dictaphones with short recording sections of around 10 to 30 seconds. EVP is one of the most compelling areas in paranormal research and is widely followed throughout the World.

The term "White Noise" has also been connected to EVP.
